A ribbon-cutting ceremony will officially open the new Stargel Stadium on Friday, September 13.
The celebration starts at 4:30 p.m., when the doors open to the public, followed by kickoff for the Taft IT High School Senators versus the Withrow High School Tigers. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 6 p.m. during halftime.
There will be free t-shirts for the first 200 people and free towels to the first 100 attendees. Free cotton candy and Kona Ice will also be available for children. Skyline Chili will be serving free coney dogs.
The Withrow and Taft IT high school marching bands will be in attendance.
The new $10 million state-of-the-art outdoor complex will host football, track and field competitions, extracurricular and club activities, including Taft High School’s Drone Club.
The 3,000-seat facility is the home field for six football teams: Aiken, Hughes, Riverview, Shroder, Gamble and Taft high schools. Fans will also notice a new video scoreboard while players will have access to a new weight room and locker rooms.
